In-Person Individual Therapy

Individual Therapy is a central part of healing trauma. We offer 60-minute consultation sessions. Please contact us to discuss fees and rebates if applicable.

To ensure the best possible therapeutic outcome we assess client concerns, as well as strengths and resources, and then match these with the most appropriate evidence-based form of therapy. Evidence-based forms of therapy are those therapies which have undergone extensive research and evaluation and have been found to be effective. Types of therapy we use include: Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy, Interpersonal Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Dialectical-Behaviour Therapy, and Emotion- Focused Therapy.

Telehealth Sessions

Telehealth sessions will be conducted through either Zoom, FaceTime or WhatsApp platforms. In some instances, we may need switch to voice calls. To participate, you will only need your phone or laptop with Wi-Fi or 4/5G connectivity and a compatible browser (such as Chrome or Firefox). Please familiarise yourself with the security features of each platform.

Preparing for your telehealth session:

Questions before getting started?

Do I need a referral to see a psychologist?

We can see you privately without a referral, but if you would like to claim from the Medicare Better Access initiative, you will need a referral letter from your general practitioner (GP) or psychiatrist.

Am I eligible for the Better Access initiative?

To be eligible, you will need to be an Australian citizen or a permanent resident. Your GP will need to conduct a Mental Health Treatment Plan to activate the Better Access initiative. Please also bear in mind, there is an Eating Disorders Treatment and Management Plan that may be applicable. This plan ensures you are able to claim a rebate for up to 40 sessions with a psychologist and up to 20 sessions with a dietitian.

What are your fees?

Our fees vary from clinician to clinician. Please contact us to discuss.

How much does a psychometric assessment cost?

We charge $260 per hour for psychometric assessments.

Each psychometric assessment (e.g WISC, WAIS, WPPSI and WIAT) including an initial consultation, administration and report generally takes 6 hours and costs $1560.

When using a combination of assessments, this typically takes 10 hours and costs $2600.

Can I claim private health insurance?

Yes, you can, however, this depends on the service and your level of cover. You will need to take your invoice and claim it directly from your insurer. You can’t claim both Medicare and private health insurance for the same session.

What are your cancellation policies?

Cancellations within a 24-hour period will incur the full fee.

Is your practice wheelchair accessible?

GPRP is located on the 3rd floor which requires one to navigate a flight of stairs. However, the building has a meeting room on the bottom floor which we can access if need be.

Can you see me in an emergency?

Unfortunately, I cannot see you in an emergency or crisis. Please consider calling emergency services at 000 if you feel that you are at risk. There are also free hotline counselling services:
